Speaker Peter Meineck, Ph.D., will point out connections between ancient warriors and modern-day veterans in his presentation “Ancient Wars/Modern Vets,” Thursday, Sept. 21, at 7 p.m. at the History Center’s 215 Niagara St. site.Through short readings from contemporary translations of ancient texts, Meineck will elucidate the common experiences and thoughts shared by these soldiers across the centuries.

During his 90-minute illustrated presentation, he will ask participants to relate their own stories to this ancient material. Meineck will encourage them to explore together themes such as coming home, democracy and war, women at war, the ethics of war, and the relationships between veterans and civilians.
